Networking

The internet is all about networking.  (It's a series of tubes, remember?) Of course, what makes the internet work is that millions of computers are networked together.  But what makes the internet useful and interesting is the  ability to connect people to one another and to communities that share like interests.



There are millions of websites out there vying for your attention. Everyday something innovative and exciting pops up on the web.  These gems show up in your inbox on Monday morning and are forgotten about by lunch on Tuesday. But, there are certain sites that people go back to, day in and day out.  These are the Googles, the YouTubes, and the MySpaces of the internet.



They are the internet canon.

Webmail

Although some (myself included?) may think that webmail is inherently evil, the bringing of email to the masses was certainly part of the explosion of the internet in the late 90s. One of the first was hotmail, but now there are many others, including Gmail.
